The friends for the preservation
of the Niger Delta environment (FEPEN) is a voluntary Non -
Governmental organization based in the Niger Delta and working
in the swamps to confront the challenges to protect the Niger
Delta communities and environment.It was incorporated in 1992
with the corporate Affairs Commission (Federal Government) in
Nigeria, West Africa under the part C of the company and Allied
Matters Decree with RC 7129.
FEPEN is engaged in a working collaboration with other local and
foreign NGOs, government/private sectors, Rural Based Development
Organizations (CBOs). Community Development Associations (CDAs).
Women Groups, co-operative societies, Youth Associations, etc
towards preserving and conserving natural resources, the general
environment and striving to achieve sustainable development.
FEPEN is committed towards contributing to food security, poverty
alleviation, health, economic empowerment for Women, environmental
education and promotion of harmonious living of the people of
the Niger Delta through research, partnership, capacity strengthening,
conservation of the ecosystem, tree planting and policy support
in the ways that promote sustainable agriculture, forestry and
development based on environmentally sound management of natural
resources.

| Membership
|
membership is open to
all persons of the Niger Delta origin, Nigerians and foreigners
who are friends of the Niger Delta and its environment at
four levels- full membership, Associate members, corporate
members and Honorary membership.
presently, the membership cut across community leaders,
women, teachers, church leaders and members, community youth
organizations, academia, workers in Government parastatals,
and corporate member. Also more members, foreign and local
partners are still welcome.
