Programme Implementation Strategy |
PREACHING
THE VITALITY OF HARMONY DEVELOPMENT
The language of force in the long term is counterproductive.
this is a key principle of the friends for the preservation
of the Niger Delta Environment.
|
GRASSROOTS APPROACH
FEPEN's Grassroots Approach to integrate Community Development
and Poverty Alleviation reflected in its periwinkle farming
project which is aimed at the economic empowerment of the
backbone of the family unit: Women.
|
CAPACITY BUILDING
& RESEARCH
FEPEN believes that research is the key tool in environmental
preservation, conservation and sustainable development.In
1992, our workshop on: "The Niger Delta; its environment
and the impacts of development" atracted both local
and international experts who presented stimulating papers
and proffered solutions to the myriad developmental issues
affecting the Niger Delta area. A book form of these presentation
would be out shortly.

PARTICIPATORY LEARNING
METHODOLOGY
FEPEN's training programmes are designed to provide practical
skills and techniques, they focus on shared learning experience
which are based on principles of partipatory learning and
actions rather than teaching. The learners participate in
determining the learning points and exert substantial control
over the content and the methods. Self-help and self-assisted
innovations are encouraged so as to enable beneficiaries
to make critical analysis of situations and initiate relevant
actions to resolve their own conflicts an practical challenges.
|
| NATURAL/RENEWABLE
RESOURCES CONSERVATION & FRAMEWORK (NRCPF)
This strategy involves people in the
development of their communities by identifying local
renewable and non-renewable natural resources, segregating
them, increasing the capacity of the members of the community
to control, (conserve and preserve) these resources in
a responsible and sustainable manner in order to meet
the needs and aspirations of the community with the health
of the environment in focus.
